A typical look, although perhaps more polished than usually. Smart decor in light wood and an open view into the kitchen. All girls working, and all friendly as would be expected in Japan. When we arrived there was only one couple sitting in the corner, but throughout the meal a few people - including a gaijin guy! - entered the cafe. I believe there is also a deli upstairs, but we did not investigate.
Brown rice, served with kuroi goma (black sesame) salt and soup made from beans and veggies. Both absolutely delicious and very filling!
Some grilled potatoes in the background there, also very good, and cooked to perfection!
Couldn't resist the sound of the desserts...bad for my diet, good for my soul. Above: tofu muffin with caramelised nuts inside + tofu cream. Below: tofu tart with cinnamon base, tofu cream and some berry coulis on the side. Personally I preferred the tofu tart - really creamy and rich in taste. KW, on the other hand, liked the muffin (which was also yummy-yummy!) so I guess a double success!
We shared and it came down to roughly 1,200 yen per person - so not bad! For such good quality, healthy, delicious food, including dessert, I thought it was alright. So if you fancy a taste of the good veggie life - Brown Rice Cafe is your place!
